Before you make a key
One key in this browser serves every instrument. Make it once, then show its code to the administrator’s computer.
Letters, digits, - _ . — 1 to 16 characters, no space. Case does not tell two names apart.
And the passphrase that will back it up
The key lives in this browser’s storage and nowhere else. A backup is the only way to put the same key in another browser, in the Home-Screen app, or on a new phone — and the only way back if this browser drops it. It is made here, with the key, because afterwards the browser will not hand the key back.
Twelve characters at least — three or four unrelated words are easier to type on a phone than a short tangle. Whoever holds the backup string can try passphrases against it as fast as their computer allows: a weak one is the weak point.
